Julie holds a Bachelors degree in Mental Health Studies from the University of Toronto, and a Masters of Science in Applied Psychology from the University of Liverpool. She has received further training and certification in EMDR, which was originally created to help war veterans process their trauma. It has since been adapted for trauma of various kinds.
Julie has worked extensively with various demographics including adolescence, young adults, and first responders. She specializes in trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, and has worked in various other areas including borderline personality disorder, anxiety, depression, bipolar, personality disorders, self-harm, and suicidal behaviours. She believes in guiding clients towards holistic healing and reaching their full potential. Julie uses a variety of therapeutic modalities including dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), mindfulness, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), eye-movement desensitization and reinstallation (EMDR), solution-focused therapy and sand-tray therapy.
Julie loves to be creative with her clients and their treatment plans, to facilitate a more holistic and client-centred approach to healing, so that they can become their best self. Her outgoing personality helps others immediately feel comfortable and at ease. Julie creates a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental environment so clients feel free to be themselves. She provides a respectful approach balanced with gentle but firm truths to support the clients she is walking with on their journey of healing. She works collaboratively with clients, in an environment of grace and truth, so they might reach their full potential. Julie enjoys working with individuals on behavioural modifications, interpersonal relationships, and discovering their identity. She utilizes solution focused therapeutic approaches to help clients achieve their goals in day-to-day life.
Her personal journey has given Julie a unique perspective into the therapeutic process in discovering her true identity. She has a deep desire to see people experience freedom and healing; because of this, Julie is committed to walking with people in their journey towards reaching their full potential. In Julie’s spare time she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She has a love for rock climbing, whether indoor or outdoor. She has traveled to 22 different countries, and is looking forward to accomplishing the rest of her list. Julie often has a book on hand as she loves to read and learn about new things.
