Tara Lalonde



Tara brings a wealth of experience from her years in the corporate world to her work with individuals and couples in both the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors. She specializes in providing focusing-oriented therapy, EMDR, cognitive-behavioural therapy, couples therapy, sandtray therapy, and supportive therapy. Her areas of focus include such issues as anxiety, emotional issues, women’s issues, marriage, self-esteem, forgiveness, communication, family/identity issues, trauma, and OCD.

Tara’s deep compassion and heart for hurting people helps her to connect with her clients and provide them with hope and grace. She combines this with her wisdom and her unwavering commitment to walk with her clients to a place of healing. She is passionate about helping women dealing with traumatic pain and abuse or those who are struggling in their bondage to fear and anxiety. In the area of couple work, Tara is strongly committed to helping couples restore their relationships because of her strong faith in the resiliency of marriage, and clients’ abilities to work through difficult issues when given the right tools. Tara is particularly passionate about helping people discover who they really are and find new ways of living in the fullness, freedom, and acceptance of that knowledge.

Tara holds a PhD in professional counselling from Liberty University, and has theological training through her Master’s of Divinity in professional counselling from Tyndale Seminary. She is also a Registered Psychotherapist in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and is a certified member in good standing with the OACCPP Mental Health Professionals. Tara’s respectful accepting approach balanced with gentle but firm truths provides a warm and comfortable environment for those clients she supports.

In addition to her professional counselling focus, Tara is also a published author and public speaker.  Tara enjoys reading, traveling, quiet retreats, walks in the woods, home renovations, and spending time with family and friends.
