Manuela Da Cunha
Manuela is a warm and engaging person with a calm and gentle spirit. She is currently
completing her Masters in Christian Counselling with Canada Christian College, specializing in
Marriage Counseling and Family Systems Counselling. With 13 years of experience in the field
of education and childcare, Manuela is passionate about supporting individuals and families as
they navigate challenging life events. Her areas of focus include dealing with irrational fears,
impacts of trauma, loss of a loved one, struggles at home, school or work, childhood attachment
issues and specific health conditions such as depression and anxiety.
Manuela is committed to fostering collaboration with parents and professionals to create
a developmentally appropriate approach, treatment, and care. Supporting each child’s needs,
celebrating and encouraging individuals' unique, and special strengths is at the heart of her
approach. In addition to her focus on children and youth, Manuela also works with couples,
adults, and families. Her training includes cultural sensitivity, marriage and couples counselling,
dual diagnosis, play therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and childhood trauma.
Additionally, Manuela’s focus lies in cultivating a collaborative approach with clients in
order to best support their goals for therapy as well as fostering mental well being. She is committed to equipping individuals with valuable coping skills and focusing attention on healing as a transformative and empowering journey while using both holistic and evidence-based approaches. She understands that the first step to change can be intimidating; however, through the therapeutic process, she takes periodic steps to measure individuals’ progress as it creates motivation to keep going and acquire the desired change.
Manuela is married and has two children. In her spare time, she enjoys writing, reading,
discovering new food recipes, outdoor adventures and road trips with her family.
