Dan Rekker

Dan Rekker started practicing psychotherapy as a practicum student in 2008, graduating with an M.A. in Counselling Psychology from Trinity Western University in 2011. Dan has worked in various settings, including in-patient treatment, community mental health, and private practice as both a psychotherapist and clinical supervisor.

As a therapist, Dan brings a warm, gentle, and supportive approach, that creates a collaborative space for clients to be heard and validated. His kind demeanor, inviting presence as well as use of humor helps put people at ease. He enjoys working with individuals and couples who are experiencing a variety of challenges, among them anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma, addiction, relationship challenges, and ADHD to find healing and resilience in their lives. He is passionate about helping and empowering people who work in the helping professions, including mental health, psychotherapy, the medical field, teachers, spiritual leaders, and first responders.

Dan's extensive experience enables him to take a rich wholistic approach to therapy that allows him to integrate counselling theories and psychological education strategically as he addresses all aspects of a person's wellbeing (cognitive, emotional, physical, and spiritual). He draws on theories including Emotion Focused Therapy, Meaning Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills, Mindfulness strategies and more.

Dan has been Married for 15 years and has two kids. He enjoys biking, hiking, exercise, canoeing, camping, fishing, and generally all outdoor activities. Dan also likes playing guitar, watching sports, and barbecuing.
