Karen Donovan

Registered Psychotherapist

Karen brings compassion and wisdom to her counselling practice. She is gifted in establishing a safe and non-judgmental environment for people to share their stories and feel they are being heard. Karen’s personal journey of healing has provided insight into the courage and commitment it takes for her clients to engage in their own counselling experience. Karen engages a collaborative and sensitive approach with the men, women and young adults she comes alongside, supporting them to move towards desired change and the realization of their goals.
Karen is passionate about working with people who seek support with issues related to grief and loss, family conflict, life transitions, relationship and couple issues, depression, stress, anxiety, self-esteem, and trauma.
Karen utilizes an integrative therapeutic approach drawing from a variety of techniques including Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Family Systems, Attachment based, Trauma-Informed, Sand Tray Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).
Karen is a Registered Psychotherapist in the Province of Ontario thru the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Counsellors, Consultants, Psychometrists and Psychologists (OACCPP). Karen holds a Master of Divinity degree from Tyndale Seminary, Toronto majoring in Individual, Couple and Family Therapy.
Karen’s past counselling work was with a community-based agency where she provided individual and couple therapy in addition to facilitating support groups for women and their children who experienced violence in their home. Karen also brings years of experience working in pastoral care and in developmental services.
Karen is married and enjoys walking hand in hand with her husband. She loves making memories with their children, and grandchildren.
