Mary Ame Ubaru

Intern Psychotherapist

Mary Ame is a caring, compassionate, and highly experienced individual who is currently completing her Master's in Mental Health Counseling at Divine Mercy University.

Mary Ame comes from a social work, microbiology, and medical background and has chosen to dedicate herself to becoming a psychotherapist. She has developed, managed, and coordinated diverse programs across various agencies in different countries. She has worked on programs related to autism, maternity, medical issues, and addictions. She has found those rewarding. Mary Ame has always found herself drawn to the ministry of caring for the heart and noticed that people were naturally drawn to sharing their challenges with her. She will be bringing her compassionate care, strong ethical principles, and diverse clinical experience to our LCC team.

Mary Ame believes in the expertise of her clients in their own experiences. She employs a collaborative approach to thoroughly understand her clients' past and present situations, fostering an effective therapeutic alliance that enables clients to set and achieve their goals. Mary Ame also uses this collaborative approach to evaluate client progress. She is committed to providing a warm and nurturing atmosphere within an environment of understanding, acceptance, and respect. Her therapeutic approach is integrative and grounded in a biopsychosocial understanding of human development. She uses psychodynamic, emotion-focused, cognitive-behavioral, and systems theories to understand human experience and facilitate positive change to aid clients' flourishing.

During her internship, Mary Ame draws from the theoretical knowledge and practical skills she has gained through her Master's in the Science of Psychology and her ongoing master’s in clinical Mental Health Counseling to the psychotherapy setting at LCC. Her mature perspective and life experience is a blessing to our clients and community.

When Mary Ame is not practicing, she spends her time watching movies with her family while munching on spicy habanero and a cold glass of apple juice.
