boris

Boris considers it a privilege to encourage people in their desire to create life changes, and to join with them in their efforts to rediscover a vision for their lives. He has worked as an individual, couple, and family therapist at a local agency in the Peel and Dufferin regions for over five years and has been a psychotherapist with LifeCare Centres for 4 years. In the last year, he has also been representing LifeCare Centres as a psychotherapist at the Centre for Advanced Medicine. He holds a Masters of Science degree in Couple and Family Therapy from the University of Guelph, is an associate of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, and is a registered psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

Boris is passionate about helping people get reconnected to their sense of self-worth and purpose in ways that help them address a wide variety of issues, such as couple and family issues, parents and children, adolescence, stress, depression and anxiety, ADHD, and OCD. Boris has also had specialized experience in issues related to the impact of trauma and abuse, domestic violence, bullying, addictions, and anger. Limbic rewiring, the nervous system, heart rate variability, and fight or flight states are of special interest to Boris, as these have research-based wide-ranging impact on human functioning. Into the therapeutic conversations, he integrates aspects from mindfulness, dialogic, narrative, solution-focused, cognitive behavioural therapy, and neurology. With Boris’ warm and compassionate style, clients are able to experience a sense of acceptance and grace, even while dealing with very difficult and painful issues. He is particularly gifted in his ability to help people find hope in the midst of turmoil and darkness.

Prior to his career as a counsellor, Boris was a teacher for six years with the Toronto District School Board, teaching Music, Math, and English to students ranging from JK to OAC.

He has felt privileged to be a husband for the last eighteen years, and a father to a teenage son. He enjoys spending time with his family, likes to read, play the violin, bake, have an occasional game of table tennis, and write.
