When we think of summertime we tend to think about long days on the beach, warm weather and lots of sunshine. We often hear people say that they can’t wait for summer so they can finally take a break. Summer is supposed to be a time of carefree fun with friends and family, where every day is a vacation.

But as we all know, everyday life stressors don’t go on holiday! As much as the warmer weather and sunshine put some energy into our days, we can still experience anxiety, depression, and many other deterrents to our happiness. The problem with feeling this way in the summertime is that we feel we are not allowed to be sad or anxious, or anything but happy, when the sun is shining down on us. The reality is that the summer is not always as restful as we need it to be. Life doesn’t stop, problems don’t go away, and as lovely as the beach is, it doesn’t solve those big life stressors.

Through the ups and downs of life, psychotherapy is a healthy way of learning, coping, and finding new ways of working through these difficult times. Through a caring and empathetic psychotherapist, we can feel heard and understood. Whether you are struggling on your own, as a couple, or as a family, we are here to support you at LifeCare Centres. With our many licensed psychotherapists we can meet a variety of needs for you during this time.

Wishing everyone a safe and healthy summer!
